What is Secondary Dimension in Google Analytics?

This is one of the top questions I get at presentations. Secondary Dimensions give you so much insight into what you currently are seeing in reports. You can even know things such as  what time people visited your site from social media. This helps you to make informed decisions instead of going from one report to the next. This is key to understand how to grow in different areas online. Google Analytcs can be overwhelmung so dont try to use every single report. Focus on the reports that actually matter.

One of my favorite reports in Google Analytics is titled “acquisition”. This is because it lets us know if our efforts are paying off. Here you can find what platforms are actually generating your traffic. When we get this traffic, we need to find out how to keep people engaged. Try using secondary dimensions.
1) While in a report click secondary dimension.
2) Search for “Exit Page”
This will give you useful information about the last page they saw before leaving. This will help you decide what to do next! Secondary dimensions can save you so much time!

Finding out what Secondary Dimension is in Google Analytics can lead to getting a lot more results online. This can help you truly understand the behavior of your visitors in order to grow. So What is Secondary Dimension in Google Analytics? It is a super easy way to better understand your traffic!
